The magnificent weather of Adelaide
Adelaide is located in the southern part of Australia. When it comes to the weather, it is endowed with a hot Mediterranean climate. It experiences summers that are hot without any rainfall. Of all the Australian capitals it is known to be the driest. There are a few times when it experiences rainfall during summer. This rain though, is quite light and not reliable. The hot weather conditions of this South Australian state makes the beaches around a hive of activities during summer. The locals and tourists jam the beautiful beaches along the coastline to wade of some of the heat as they swim and engage in water sporting activities.
The average high temperature is 29degrees Celsius. Even though this is so, there have been times when Adelaide has fallen victim to some of the heat waves that have hit Australian in recent times. For example in the month of March 2008, Adelaide experienced a heat wave that lasted fifteen days. The temperatures were above 35 degrees Celsius. To add on to that, the year 2009 only brought with it more heat waves. In fact there were two heat waves. The first one occurred between the last week of January and the first few days of February. During this time the temperature rose above the 40 degrees mark. The 2nd heat wave occurred in late October to around mid of November. The temperatures at this period were above 35 degrees with some regions experiencing temperatures of 40 degrees and above.
Winters in Adelaide usually have moderate temperatures of around 15 to 16 degrees. There is also rainfall with June receiving most of the rainfall of about 80 millimeters .As you have noticed the temperatures are not very low in winters and so the occurrence of snow is quite rare, although there are times when you get some on Mt. Loofty and on some area in Adelaide Hills.
